Man accused of murder in Garberville appears in court
EUREKA- A trial date has still not been set for the man accused of murdering a man in Garberville last April.
Carter is accused of killing 36-year-old Zachery Chapman. Carter was initially accused of setting fire to a residence as well, but that charge was dropped at the preliminary hearing and replaced with the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Carter’s defense requested two more weeks before a trial date is set in order to recruit expert witnesses to testify about what was likely going through Carter and Chapman’s minds during the confrontation.
Carter will appear in court again on November 26th.
