Man assaulted with crowbar, police search for suspect
EUREKA- A man is assaulted with a crowbar at a Eureka motel early this morning and the suspect is still at large. According to the Eureka Police Department it happened around 10:30 a.m. at Motel 6 on Broadway. Police say a man believed to be in his twenties beat another man over the head with a crowbar after a dispute in the back of the motel.
The suspect fled the scene and took off eastbound on W. Del Norte Street. The victim suffered a two-inch laceration to the head but declined medical treatment. Officers obtained surveillance footage from the motel and said the two men apparently knew each other. The victim told officers he allowed the suspect to stay in his room last night. When the suspect refused to leave the property the following morning, an altercation ensued between the two in which the suspect struck the victim with the crowbar and then fled the scene.
The suspect is described as a white male adult in his twenties with blonde or brown hair, a thin build, and approximately 5’ 7” tall. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat with an unknown light colored logo on the front, a long sleeved light colored t-shirt under a short-sleeved light colored shirt with darker horizontal stripes (possibly purple), light colored pants (maybe tan or gray), and a purple hooded sweatshirt. He was carrying a large, green draw-string bag.
The suspect was accompanied by an unknown white female adult in her 20’s known only as “Amber.” She is usually in the company of two small dogs and may be the suspect’s girlfriend. The female is only wanted for questioning as a potential witness at this time.
