Man drives 80 feet over the embankment off Humboldt Hill Friday afternoon

One person is hospitalized with minor injuries after driving off an edge on Humboldt Hill this afternoon.

It happened just before 3 p.m. at the Bret Harte Lane intersection. Witnesses told News Channel Three that they saw the man drive off the road.

His four-door Chevrolet sedan landed about 80 feet down and embankment.

Humboldt Bay Firefighters, California Highway Patrol and City Ambulance had to extricate him.

The driver was able to communicate with medical personnel and is reported to only have minor injuries. He was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital.
