Man found dead on Highway 101

CRESCENT CITY- A Washington man is dead after he was found lying in the roadway in Crescent City. The California Highway Patrol was dispatched to a reported body in the road on Highway 101 North of Lopez road early Saturday morning. When officers arrived on scene, they found a white male adult lying on the west shoulder of the road. He’s a 66-year-old man; his name is being withheld until family is notified. 
 
Police believe he was walking in the roadway and was possibly struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. CHP is looking for witnesses who may have been driving in the area around 2 a.m. on Saturday. If you have any information about the crash you’re asked to call the Crescent City CHP Office at 464-3117.
