Man with rifle prompts two facility lockdowns in Fortuna
An assisted living facility and hospital in Fortuna were placed on lockdown Saturday night after a report of male subject carrying a gun in the area.
Fortuna Police said they received the report around 9:50 p.m. Redwood Memorial Hospital staff told police that the suspect was last seen running to the rear of the property. As a result, both the hospital and the Assisted Living Facility were placed on lockdown.
Officers checked the surrounding area, but were unable to locate the man. He’s described as a Hispanic male adult wearing sweat pants and fisherman’s-style hat. He’s said to be in his twenties.
Both hospitals remained on lockdown throughout the night. Anyone with information is asked to contact the WeTip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME.
