EUREKA- Authorities are looking for a suspect who shot a man last night in the Humboldt Hill area of Eureka.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department says a 26-year-old man called 911 saying he had just been shot with a shotgun at his home in the 6300 block of Longview Drive. The man heard a knock on his door just before Midnight on Monday, and when he opened the door slightly to see who it was, the suspect kicked his way inside and shot the victim. The suspect then fled the scene and the victim was transported to a hospital out of the area for treatment. The Sheriff’s Department has not found the suspect and say they need your help.
"The sheriff's office would like to encourage the public, anybody out there in the community who has any idea who may have committed this crime to please give us a call. That one tip may be the tip that helps us solve this crime and we have a victim who is very seriously injured, and we would like to get the suspect into custody and find out why this happened," said Lt. Steve Knight with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim described the suspect as a male, possibly Hispanic, in his late teens or early twenties, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and a black bandana over his face. He was armed with a single barrel shotgun.
If you have information, you are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 445-7251.
