Manhunt update, search for second suspect has been terminated
SHIVELY- After a multi-agency, early morning man-hunt south of Scotia, further search for an individual on the run has been terminated.
“It was reported they had been having burglaries in the area and they thought, that this vehicle may have been associated with those burglaries and they wanted to contact the people in that vehicle,” said, Sergeant Sam Williams of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office.
At eight this morning, the sheriff's office was notified about a conflict in the Salmon Creek area where residents began following a suspicious SUV. The vehicle took off down Shively road, slightly swiped an oncoming car, and then spun down an embankment. The two occupants then fled on foot. Multiple agencies arrived on scene including the Eureka Police Department with a K9 unit. The California Highway Patrol responded with personnel and their helicopter. One occupant was detained, interviewed and then let go due to a lack of felony criminal evidence. Law enforcement then terminated the search for the second occupant.
