Marijuana dispensary goes up in flames; Investigators say Arson
ARCATA-Law enforcement officials are investigating the motive behind an arson at a Marijuana dispensary in Arcata. The illegal dispensary caught fire early Monday morning and has been determined as arson by fire investigators.
Arcata Fire were dispatched to the scene at 5:20 a.m. on the corner of 4th and H Street. Battalion Chief Sean Campbell said the back door was open when crews arrived on scene and said there was evidence of a forced entry. Investigators have determined that there were two separate fires inside the home in two different rooms. Campbell said the two different points of origin are suspicious in nature.
The owner of the home had been operating the residence as a cannabis dispensary, but did not have business license by the city.
Arcata Police Sgt. Todd Dokweiler said the department is interviewing witnesses and looking at security footage from around the property. Dokweiler said the crime is still under investigation.
