Mayor creates annual Community Service Award. Lance Madsen 1st recipient.
EUREKA: The City of Eureka will be handing out an annual Community Service Award of Merit.
Mayor Frank Yager announced the award will be presented to individuals or organizations each year in February or March and will recognize people in the community who have done outstanding work to make Eureka a better place to live.
A perpetual plaque will be placed in City Hall where names of the honorees will be inscribed. Nominations for the award will come from members of the Eureka City Council and the mayor. The selection will be at the discretion of the mayor assisted by a committee formed to review the nominations.
The award for 2014 will go to Lance Madsen who has dedicated most of his life to public service until illness forced him to retire.
