McGuire helps secure bond money for Northern California
Sacramento - Bond money to fight illegal marijuana grows on the North Coast was secured Wednesday thanks in part to Mike McGuire.
The 2nd District Senator working with Senate Pro Tem Kevin De Leon, helped secure money approved yesterday on the senate floor to help deal with the historic drought and significant negative impact of illegal marijuana grows.
2014 was the first year in recorded history that there were stretches in both the Eel and Mattole rivers that ran dry. A multitude of water diversions and severe drought have brought untold hardship to both ecosystems.
Two million dollars will go to Fish and Game officials to add eleven new positions to join the Marijuana Task Force in Northern California.
McGuire said the money is a good step in the right direction but there is a long road ahead.
