Meth transportation leads to three arrests

EUREKA – A three-month long investigation.

Three suspects from Bakersfield are now detained at the county jail for possession for sale and transportation of a controlled substance.

The HUMBOLDT COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE confirms 48-year-old Joseph Garner, 24-year-old James Johnson, and 49-year-old Kathy Ham were transporting methamphetamine.

Yesterday morning around 4:45 that vehicle was heading northbound down Highway 101, and with the assistance of the Special Agents of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop took place as the vehicle was apprehended.

A detection K9 was on scene and detected narcotics in the trunk and underneath the passenger seat. 2 pounds of methamphetamine estimated out to $14,000.00 in street value.

Also obtained was 40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, with an additional charge for Garner for being a felon in possession of a fire arm.

All three were arrested, and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
