EUREKA- Over 1,000 local residents are showing their support for law enforcement by liking a new Facebook page.

Eureka resident Gene Bass created the “Humboldt Supports Our Law Enforcement” Facebook page on December 20th. He says he made the page after seeing negative publicity directed toward police around the country, and didn’t see as much pro-law enforcement support. The page now has more than 1,000 likes and contains posts supporting police, both local and across the United States. The page also recognizes officers who have died in the line of duty.

"We've got a lot of good officers around here who are trying to do the right thing.  Without the support of the community we can offer them, I think it lowers their morale and if we rally around them and they feel like they have a vested interest in the community, that it's a win-win for everybody," said Bass.
