Motions filed to split cases; Suspects of Arcata fatal stabbing
EUREKA- The defense has filed a motion to separate the three suspect's cases for the fatal stabbing of an Arcata chef that occurred back in November. Co-defense attorneys for Sophie Rocheleau and Nicholas Stoiber have asked the court to sever each co-defendant in the case, so that each case would go through trial separately.
Both suspects face lesser charges, assault, while Juan Ferrer, the only suspect in custody, faces charges for murder.
The defense said the current state of the case holds significant issues with evidence.
The court is set to rule on the decision on July 7th, the same day as the trial confirmation.
