Names of deceased victims in crash near Orick released
ORICK - An update on the story we ran Wednesday regarding two deceased bodies that were found east of Orick.
The Humboldt County Coroner has identified the male as 64-year old Leonard Donald James, Jr. and female as 56-year old Carla Jae Lothrop. Both were residents of Johnsons, which is 14 miles northwest of Weitchpek.
According to the CHP, the fatal collision happened sometime over the past several weeks in a remote rugged area south of the Klamath River near Orick.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the Coroner’s Office says a toxicology report will be done but results will not be ready for about a month.
