Neighbor chases alleged gas station burglars, two arrested

FORTUNA- Neighbors are being credited for foiling a burglary in progress at a gas station in Fortuna.

Just before 4 a.m. Saturday, a neighbor reported a burglary occurring at the patriot gas station on the 3600 block of Rohnerville Road. The neighbor said they saw two male suspects break the front glass door, enter and steal items. The reporting party's husband chased both suspects on foot for 50 yards

. Officers then located the two, 20 year old Derek Ray Johnson of Fortuna and 20 year old Mason Boyd of Eureka, hiding in the tree line near north loop road. Both were arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property.
