ARCATA- On the first day of the 101st school year administrators at Humboldt State University unveiled a new flag to fly over the campus. The flag is to celebrate the university's 100th anniversary which was reached last year.
Two University Police Officers assisted President Rollin Richmond raise the flag early Tuesday morning, the first day of the spring semester. The new flag mirrors the university's colors, green and gold, and has a large H in the middle.
University President Rollin Richmond said the circle around the H represents the unity that the campus has.
The old flag, which has a large redwood in the middle, will be stored in the Humboldt Room with other historic memorabilia from the university.
