MCKINLEYVILLE- The McKinleyville Community Services District has one more hurdle before moving forward when it comes to their long anticipated teen and community center.
Since 2010, the MCSD has wanted to develop a location to improve recreation opportunities. Since then, they’ve been working with the Boys and Girls Club of the Redwoods and a teen and community center has been in the works. In 2012, Measure B was approved, helping the district raise enough money to push things into action. However, due to inaccurate bidding and costs by the architect firm. The construction of the building has been pushed back. After a recent board meeting, the district decided to modify their original design to fit the budget. Once that is complete the new building will be underway.
“This is going to be a feather in the cap of McKinleyville Community Service District. Here at MCSD, our staff and our board of directors, pride ourselves in having a recreation that’s above and beyond. This will just be another area where we have a significant contribution related to our community recreation,” said General Manger of MCSD, Gregory Orsini .
