EUREKA- Eureka has an all female city council now that the newest members have been sworn in.
Both Kim Bergel and Natalie Arroyo were joined by family and friends as they were sworn in to kick off Tuesday night’s meeting. Natalie Arroyo moved to the North Coast eight years ago to be an AmeriCorps National Service Member. She has also served in the Coast Guard Reserve and in the Redwood Community Action Agency. Kim Bergel is a 4th generation Eureka woman and the current chair of the Eureka Transportation Safety Commission. She is also one of the founders of the Redwood Montessori School.
"I'm open minded. I think that's a huge piece of the puzzle. I'm also a great listener and I really have a desire to get community involved and that we all work together to make eureka a better place. I think it's important that people know they have a voice and Ii think it's important that they know that people listen," said Council Member Bergel.
"I think a lot of what I campaigned on is what I can still bring, which is a background in planning and a non profit world, which can translate to public agencies as well, as far as grant funding sources and other funding sources. And then I also have a background in the local coast guard, so I understand maritime law and regulations," said Council Member Arroyo.
Should local public safety agencies use the FirstNet system?
