New fishing regulations proposed for Klamath River Watershed
KLAMATH RIVER - The Department of Fish and Wildlife Commission is considering several adjustments to fishing regulations for the Klamath/Trinity watersheds.
The Yurok Tribe has proposed changes which would have significant impact on recreational fishing. One of several suggestions is to close Blue Creek below the confluence from September 15th through December 31st to shelter salmon seeking refuge in cooler waters. Another proposal in that area is curtailing any catch and release fishing to lesson predatory seal impact on tired fish. Similar catch and release restrictions in the spit area have also been suggested. The commission will weigh these suggestions as well as others at their next meeting in April.
