NORTH COAST- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Eureka. Also in Eureka, a structure fire destroyed a residential building. A group of HSU students continued their sit-in at the Native American Forum on the HSU campus. Caltrans is asking for your help choosing an alternative route to the Last Chance Grade in Del Norte County. Community members worked to improve the health of Arcata's Community Forest as part of the Ridge Trail Project. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the North Coast held the annual Big Chili Cook Off in Blue Lake. In Trinidad, prospective engineers had the chance to meet professionals in their feed and enjoy some crab. Local high school students competed for the chance to advance in a national poetry recitation competition at the Morris Graves Museum of Art in Eureka.
