EUREKA- The next Eureka City Manager has been chosen and will begin on May 1st pending a background investigation.

On Thursday, city officials announced Greg Sparks is their selection.  Sparks has worked in City Manager or Administrator positions in seven cities.  He is currently the City Manager for the City of West Des Moines, Iowa, where he oversees more than 400 employees and an annual budget of more than 100 million dollars.  When the background investigation process is complete, Sparks will be the city manager.  He says he is excited to serve the people of Eureka.

"I just know that my job coming in is certainly not to turn Eureka into some place else where I've been before.  It's to learn the culture and the community, the services that are currently being provided and see what we can do to help keep making things better, improve the economic sustainability of the community and provide the best services to the residents," said Sparks.
