Next generation of police officers graduate from academy

EUREKA- Twenty-two cadets graduated from the College of the Redwoods Police Academy today after completing 6 months of emergency response training. The graduates were the 113th class to graduate from the Academy.

“It's exciting because they're beginning to embark on a career in law enforcement,” said Basic Academy Coordinator Rick Grimm. “They've had just the basic training and now they will begin in a field-training program where they will learn the finer points of police work and then go on to what could be a twenty to thirty year career.”

Three cadets were pinned by their new agencies at the ceremony.
Several of the graduates also received special awards today in categories of: physical fitness, defensive tactics, firearms, scholastics, community service and defensive driving.
