ARCATA- Students led a campus tour for the next Humboldt State University President on Thursday. Dr. Lisa Rossbacher is in town visiting the campus and meeting with students. The California State University's Board of Trustees announced the new president tow weeks ago in Long Beach, Calif.
"It's been wonderful to be back and under these circumstances," said Rossbacher.
Rossbacher is the current president at Southern Polytechnic University in Georgia. She said the tight nit community attracted her to Humboldt State. "It's one of the thing Humboldt State is known for. it's why students come here and stay, and even stay after they graduate sometimes," she said.
Before touring the campus she said she will focus on student success and will make sure the university receives enough funding from the state government and fundraises enough money from alumni and private donations.
Rossbacher said she wants to get to know students and says she often walks her dog around campus. "It's a great way to start conversations," she said.
Rossbacher will takeover the position in July.
