North Coast reflects on MLK's 'I Have a Dream' speech
NORTH COAST- Today marked the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s “I Have a Dream" speech. A half-century later nearly 20,000 people gathered at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to pay tribute to the civil rights leader. President Barack Obama and former presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter all made a speech in honor of King. Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy asked all schools, residents, and organizations to ring bells at 3 p.m. the exact time King gave his speech fifty years ago.
