North Coast residents to receive free tax help at Taxapalooza
EUREKA- North Coast residents looking to do their taxes sooner rather than later can get their returns prepared for free on Saturday at the 5th annual Taxapalooza."
211 Humboldt is organizing the event, where several IRS certified tax preparers will attend in order to make sure people receive their full refunds. The preparers will only serve those whose household incomes were $53,000 or less in 2014. They will also be able to determine eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Child-Dependent Care Expense Credit.
"A lot of people don't have the time in their busy schedules to make a scheduled appointment to do their taxes, so this is a way for a lot of people who are free on Saturday just to pop in with all their correct documentation and get their taxes done by one of our certified volunteers," said Jeanette Hurst, the Director of 211 Humboldt.
If you’re looking to receive free tax help at Taxaplooza, you must bring a state or federally issued photo ID, a social security card for everyone on the return, documentation of all income, a routing and bank account number for direct deposit, a copy of last year’s return, child and dependent care expense information and rent information.
Taxapalooza will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at College of the Redwoods, in the Humanities Building, room 204. Parking is free. College of the Redwoods is located at 7351 Tompkins Hill Road in Eureka.
