North Coast Veterans Resource Center in Eureka holds barbecue ahead of Veterans Day
EUREKA- Veterans Day came early for some in Eureka on Friday at the North Coast Veterans Resource Center's barbecue.
The center serves more than 100 veterans and works to help them achieve their goals. A barbeque was held on Friday as the center will be closed on Tuesday. Veterans had the chance to spend time together, enjoy some tri-tip and reflect on the sacrifices they’ve made.
"The holidays are coming up and we have service men and women out there right now who are serving as we speak and they have dedicated their lives to something greater than themselves and it's a way for us as people to show these honorable men and women that we care for them and they have a place to come back home to and a reason to fight and it's very important,” said Marion Mills, who served as an E3 for the U.S. Air Force from 1995-1997.
A fundraiser for the North Coast Veterans Resource Center will be held at Applebee’s in Eureka from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday. To participate, stop by the North Coast Veterans Resource Center ahead of time to pick up a voucher. The center is located at 109 4th Street in Eureka.
