EUREKA - The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services has been preparing for this weather. the department is responsible for planning and responding to disasters. At this point, the emergency services have not been activated but they are prepared if they need to be. In addition to their preparations, they recommend residents on the North Coast prepare a safety kit of food, water, clothing, bedding, and toiletries. They also say collect emergency equipment such as a flashlight, extra batteries, a portable radio, and a first aid kit.
“Right now we are monitoring the situation. We know that there's going to be significant water impacts from this storm that is coming in. So we're monitoring right now. We’re making sure that we're talking to the appropriate agencies and sharing information and getting ready in case we need to respond,” Sean Quincey, Public Information Specialist, said.
