One DUI arrest during CHP maximum enforcement period
HUMBOLDT COUNTY- The California Highway Patrol’s maximum enforcement period is in full swing for this holiday weekend.
Humboldt county CHP reports they have so far seen four non-injury traffic collisions and have made one dui arrest. Those numbers are down from last year. During 2013’s Thanksgiving weekend enforcement period, CHP saw nine total collisions, one of those fatal, and made four dui arrests. This year’s enforcement period extends through Sunday night at 11:59.
“Following thanksgiving we're definitely going to see an increase of travel in and out of Humboldt County,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Matt Harvey. “There’s two main arteries in and out of Humboldt County, 101 and 299 that the majority of motorists are going to take and so those are going to be areas of concern a little bit for us because there's going to be a majority of motorists on those roadways so we'll be paying special attention to those roadways.”
