ORICK- Administrators, teachers and residents met with the Orick School Board Tuesday to discuss the fate of the elementary school that has seen shrinking enrollment numbers. Humboldt County Office of Education Superintendent Garry Eagles was there to explain the process involved with closing Orick School.
The County Committee on School District Organization will make the final decision on the school. School code requires a steady, daily attendance of at least six students for a school to stay open. Three of Orick's eight students are moving onto seventh grade and will graduate from the school and no new students are expected to enroll.
The committee will not make a decision until the end of the school year.
