Parolee arrested in Arcata after allegedly stealing golf cart

ARCATA - An Arcata parolee, allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine, has been arrested after leading the CHP on a slow speed chase in a stolen golf cart.

California Highway Patrol says, early this morning, 35-year-old Cory Pearson reportedly stole a golf cart from Sun Valley Bulb Farm, drove the cart down Lamphere Road into a parked car and began ramming the vehicle.

When witnesses arrived, he fled. CHP responded and found Pearson entering southbound Highway 101. The suspect refused to pull over and drove onto eastbound 299 at around 10 miles per hour before abandoning the golf cart and fleeing on foot. He was captured by CHP Officers and booked into the Humboldt County Jail for felony vehicle theft, felony drug influence and evading police.
