Parolee arrested in Arcata after allegedly stealing golf cart

ARCATA – It’s something you don’t see everyday; A slow speed chase involving a golf cart.

Early this morning, 35-year-old parolee Cory Pearson of Arcata reportedly stole the cart from Sun Valley Bulb Farm and drove down Lamphere Road and struck a parked car several times.

The California Highway Patrol tried to stop Pearson but he refused. Pearson then drove onto Eastbound 299 going at about 10 miles per hour. He later abandoned the golf cart and fled on foot. Pearson was captured by CHP Officers and was booked into the Humboldt County Jail for vehicle theft, under the influence of drugs and evading police..
