People celebrating April Fools' Day on North Coast
EUREKA- Tuesday is the first day of April, and a day where practical jokers all around are playing pranks. People on the North Coast shared what they are doing for April Fools’ Day.
People are thinking of last minute strategies on April Fool’s Day.
"My mom's working today so I might pull a prank on her. I'm not sure yet as to what I want to do. I'll probably think of something later. I always do something so we'll have to see what happens," said Zachary Breit, who lives in Eureka.
Breit says he enjoys April Fools’ Day because it is a reason to keep playing pranks on people.
"Typically, I like to Saran Wrap pretty much everything I can. I've Saran Wrapped the doorway of my sister's room, or I Saran Wrap the toilet shut a couple times on my parents and just basically wrap anything I can,"Breit said.
Some people are not as fond of April Fools’ Day as others.
"I just think it's a really stupid idea. If you have good enough friends, you can do it all the time. You don't need one specific day," said Isabel Zavala, who lives in Arcata.
April Fools’ Day can be a tough time for some, like Hedy Wallrich, whose mother told her it was too late for her to sign up to play recreational softball when she was 16.
"Then she was just like, 'April fools!' and I was still kind of crying, but I couldn't believe it. I was like, 'Really?' You don't just come right out of the joke when you're crying, you're just like, 'Ohh!'" said Wallrich.
For some, April Fools’ Day is about more than just pranks. Like Matthew and Meagan Nobles, who married each other on April Fools’ Day last year.
"We were trying to arrange plane tickets for the family to fly up and they thought we were joking. They wanted to make sure they should buy their tickets and that we were actually getting married," said Matthew Nobles.
