Police say presence on plaza reduced arrests New Years night
ARCATA- Arcata Police arrested eleven people on the plaza for being drunk in public New Years night. Police say their presence on the plaza has decreased the number of arrests made on popular holidays.
Arcata Police Sgt. Brian Hoffman said more police were on the plaza last night than in past years. Hoffman said the police are on the plaza earlier and interact more with people celebrating the new year. "We want to keep people safe for the revelers and families out there," said Hoffman.
