A well known installed art piece has been moved in Brookings, Oregon. “Bruin Bear” is a commissioned piece of art that Evergreen Bank designed for the City of Brookings. Unfortunately, it was becoming a bit of a traffic hazard.
City officials report several near misses between pedestrians and vehicles have occurred when driver attention was being diverted to the bear statue. After consulting with police, the city decided to move the bear to a sidewalk near the Goldilocks Antique Store close to the heart of town. Officials say it will be a better venue for people who want to photograph the bear.
