On Friday, August 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. there will be training scenarios taking place near Commercial and 4th streets in Eureka. The scenarios are part of the College of the Redwoods Crime Scene Investigators Course:    

Preliminary numbers show Humboldt County's unemployment rate went down in March

HUMBOLDT COUNTY- The preliminary numbers are in, and Humboldt County’s unemployment rate went down in March.

The jobless rate for the month of March is 8.6 percent, down point 1 percent from the revised February rate. Figures also show there were 300 industry jobs gained in Humboldt County from February to March. The March unemployment rate is one percentage point lower than last year’s rate of 9.6 percent.  The types of jobs which have seen the most growth this year are manufacturing, financial activities, private educational and health services and leisure and hospitality. Humboldt County has the 22nd highest unemployment rate in California.

Del Norte County’s unemployment rate is 11.4 percent.
