EUREKA- Election officials say that voter turn out was lower than expected on Tuesday.
Only twenty 29.8 percent of registered voters submitted their ballot for the primary election. However, that number could increase as vote by mail and provisional ballots from the precincts are added in. According to Humboldt County Clerk and Registrar Carolyn Crnich, the low turnout is not surprising.
“It's not unusual to see a lower turn out in a primary election,” Crnich said. “There will be more interest I think in the general election in November. There's going to be a lot of things on the ballot and so we'll so there will be candidates and campaigns will be trying to stir up more interest among their constituents.”
