Recent rains fill Ruth Lake

Recent rains have had a beneficial effect on the main source of water for our seven municipalities. Ruth Lake is now full.

This is footage earlier in the year when drought conditions were at a critical stage. Because of the forecasted shortfall of rain, officials from the Humboldt Bay Water District shut down the hydro portion of the dam that feeds power into PG&E’S grid this past January as a precaution. They’ve been doing maintenance on the mechanical aspects of the hydro plant and anticipate going back on line possibly next week. Superintendent Dale Davidson of the Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District told News Channel 3 that even with the drought, Ruth Lake had plenty of water to service their customers.
