Recycle electronic waste for free starting Sept 1

The days of waiting to recycle your electronic waste for free are over. Starting September 1, “e-waste” can be recycled at no cost at the Eel River Resource Recovery sites in Fortuna and Arcata.

Since 2010, the recycling center has sponsored an annual day for residents to drop off their hazardous e-waste items for free. Eel River Disposal staff said they thought it would die down as years went by, but people kept bringing more and more in. They said since there is a demand, they figured they could offer a free drop-off everyday to not only increase business, but also do the environment a favor by limiting the amount of e-waste found on the side of roads.

The Eel River Resource Recovery will be closed Monday, September 2 for the Labor Day holiday.
