Reward offered after money stolen from safe and sober
FORTUNA- After two Fortuna High School Safe and Sober donation jars have been stolen a Eureka businessman is offering a $500 reward to the person that helps lead to the suspect's arrest. The suspect is captured on surveillance video taking the donation from a gas station's counter.
The suspect is believed to be the same person, both jars are estimated to have about $120.
David Howard, the owner of webmaster.info and a Eureka resident has offered to donate the same amount of money that was stolen plus offering the reward. Howard, who had three of his children attend Fortuna High, said he was surprised that someone would steal money from the event.
"I was a little bit shocked. I was like that's pretty low," said Howard.
Howard hopes the reward will help encourage people to come forward with information on the suspect. Anyone with information on the arrest are encouraged to call the Fortuna Police Department at 725-7550.
