RIO DELL- Residents living in Rio Dell are being asked to approve a city-wide sales tax increase.

Measure U, is a 1% sales tax that, if approved, would be applied to all purchases. The tax would total to be 1 cent per dollar spent and will apply to most taxable purchases in town.

If approved, the tax would remain in affect for the next five years and bring in an estimated $170,000 dollars

City Manager Kyle Knopp said the tax increase is necessary to maintain city services. For this years budget the council needed to take $145,000 from reserve funds.
