Salmon River Complex Fire expected to be 100% contained this week
The Salmon River Complex Fire burning near the community of Sawyers Bar is expected to be 100% contained by 10pm on Wednesday of this week.
The U.S. Forest Service initially predicted 100% containment by Sunday, but forest officials say that the rainfall last night slowed down their ability to contain the fire. Officials add that “containment” is just a predication; they say it’s not about how much line is on the ground, but more about their confidence that the line will hold. Currently the blaze is slowly backing down a creek bed area. Crews will also continue to mop up, patrol, and protect structures.
