Salvation Army’s Kettle Drive kicks off in Eureka, Fortuna
HUMBOLDT COUNTY- The Salvation Army’s Kettle Drive kicked off Thursday at four Humboldt County locations. Bell ringers were stationed outside the Eureka and Fortuna Walgreen’s, as well as Eureka’s Grocery Outlet. Volunteers and employees with the Salvation Army will be collecting donations from now until December 24.
"It’s nice to keep busy for the holidays,” said Bell Ringer James Kaufman. “As I’m getting older, getting a little bit of holiday spirit and spreading it. It's something to do. It's a new adventure in life we'll say. I never thought I’d be a bell ringer. But it helps to get me in the holiday spirit now that a lot of family is gone and such."
The Salvation Army will deploy more red kettles across the county starting November 28. There’s still time to sign up as a volunteer. Those interested in being a bell ringer can call the Salvation Army at 707-442-6475.
Should Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District look at ways to sell its excess water?
