EUREKA- Senior citizens in Eureka’s unincorporated areas may soon be paying more for their recycling collection. According to a staff report from the Humboldt County Public Works Department the senior collection rate fee for 20 gallon recycling cans is suggested to go up by 20 percent. The current fee for seniors is $10 per month.
The Public Works Department is proposing to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors that the fee be increased to $12 per month.
The report says that this increase is part of annual rate adjustments. It also says that the increase is a result of two-years of combined adjustments, as the department overlooked the senior fee last year.
The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on that adjustment Tuesday at 1:30 pm at the courthouse.
