Sentencing Postponed for Yurok Embezzlement Case
The former Forestry Director of the Yurok tribe accused of embezzling one million dollars from the tribe did not have to face sentencing today. Roland Raymond appeared in federal court in San Francisco and the judge granted an order to continue the sentencing for another undisclosed date.
Raymond plead guilty to taking federal funds from the tribe in a previous hearing. Raymond faces a maximum of 37 months in jail in federal prison.
Raymond said he took the money to support his gambling and drug addiction.
Raymond's attorney is asking the judge that he is given credit for the time he has already served.
