From the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office:
On Thursday, January 15 at 6:00 a.m. Local, State and Federal Drug Enforcement Agents teamed up and served several arrests and search warrants at residences in the Hoopa and Eureka area.
The State and Federal Search/Arrest warrants were obtained as a result of an almost one and a half year narcotics investigation involving the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Humboldt County Drug Task Force, Eureka Police-Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team and the United States Marshals Service.
This investigation was initiated after continuous complaints from citizens from the Hoopa community regarding on-going drug trafficking occurring on the Hoopa Indian Reservation. Drug Agents initiated the investigation and gathered that this on-going criminal activity involves narcotic traffickers in the Eureka area, dealing in large quantities of both Heroin and Methamphetamines. Investigative techniques involved the use of Electronic Surveillance, Under Cover Narcotics Agents posing as Drug Traffickers, extensive residential and vehicle surveillance and back ground investigations and intelligence gathering.
Drug Agents had obtained evidence of drug trafficking and initiated criminal investigations on subjects living in Hoopa and Eureka. Drugs agents have recovered multiple pounds of Heroin, Methamphetamine and illegal firearms that were sold, purchased or recovered during this investigation.
