Six Rivers National Forest – Almost 15,000 firefighters are currently battling 23 fires in The Six Rivers National Forest.

19 of those fires are located in the Orleans Complex, covering almost 7,000 acres. Those fires are only 46% contained, with 33 engines and 8 helicopters on the scene.

The Ruth Complex has 5 fires that cover almost 5,000 acres and is 75% contained.

The Young Fire located on the Gasquet Ranger District is being managed under a confinement strategy due to the remote location and difficult terrain.

Motorists on highway near Orleans are reminded to drive with caution due to rocks continuing to fall on the roadway along fire areas.

Some trails and wilderness access in the Marble Mountain Wilderness are closed due to fire caution.
