Six Rivers Planned Parenthood changing management
EUREKA- Six Rivers Planned Parenthood will no longer be serving the North Coast. Officials with the organization announced last week that they will be dissolving their affiliation due to a lack of financial stability.
On Thursday Six Rivers will cease to exist. However, the clinic will remain open under the management of Planned Parenthood Northern California. Planned Parenthood NorCal is an organization that’s separate from Six Rivers. Beginning August first the organization will now be responsible for serving residents of Humboldt, Trinity and Del Norte counties. Officials with Six Rivers Planned Parenthood say that some current employees will be laid off in the transition at the end of this week, but services will not be affected.
“Patients that walk through our doors everyday will not see a change in services,” said Tia Baratelle, Director of Public Affairs with Six Rivers Planned Parenthood. “They still will be getting the compassionate, quality care that they have been relying on for nearly forty years from Six Rivers. Many of the same faces will still be here providing those services.”
