southern humboldt- Matthew Aaron Brown was taken into custody Tuesday as the suspected shooter in the death of 49-year-old Alderpoint resident Neil Decker.
Brown was on the loose for three days after the shooting and was located by the Humboldt County SWAT team early Tuesday morning.
Looking into his history, Brown did not have a criminal record in Humboldt County prior to Friday’s shooting. However, he did have an extensive record of offenses in San Bernardino County, including two felonies and two DUI charges. He served time in a federal prison for one of those felonies. According to the county court office, he only has a traffic violation on his record.
Brown is currently being held at the county jail awaiting formal charges to be filed. His arraignment is expected to take place on Thursday.
