Sprinkler system saves Bayshore Mall business
EUREKA- A sprinkler system in the Bayshore Mall is credited for saving a business from a fire Monday morning after 8 a.m.
According to Humboldt Bay Fire, the first crews on scene reported seeing water coming from Gianni's For Men with security staff saying there was smoke inside. Additional support responded and fire crews searched the area and found a small fire that had been extinguished by a single sprinkler head.
Crews shut down the system to salvage the store items. According to Humboldt Bay Fire, the damage was minimal due to early activation of the sprinkler system.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but appears to be accidental at this time.
