Supervisor Fennell will be Humboldt County board chair in 2015
EUREKA- With just two weeks left of regular meetings, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors is preparing for a transition. Starting January, 2nd District Supervisor Estelle Fennell will become the next chair of the board.
“I'm very excited to be in that position and to help the community,” Fennell said. “I'm very excited to see what we've accomplished so far and what we'll be going into in the new year. I really appreciate the community's involvement. We’re here to help the community and we can't do it on our own.”
Fennell will take over as chair for 1st District Supervisor Rex Bohn. The chair position rotates each year. For 2015 Fennell says she has big plans. She hopes to keep moving forward on the general plan update, address county groundwater issues and continue work on Measure Z fund distribution.
She says starting next year, you may see a slight change in style of the way meetings are run, but the focus will continue to be on the people.
“I think every chair puts a different signature on their meetings and things like that and at the end of the day, it's the people's meetings,” Bohn said. “We just get to run them for the people of Humboldt County, so I hope I did fulfill that. I think our meetings went fairly smooth. I like interaction with the populous I like them to have a say. It's been a great year and I’ve had a good time.”
