Supporters of meal delivery program help deliver meals to seniors
EUREKA- The Humboldt Senior Resource Center has helped deliver five square meals a week the seniors living in Eureka. On Wednesday, representatives from St. Joseph's Hospital helped to deliver those meals.
"We really rely on the generosity of funders in the community," said Barbara Walser, Nutrition and Activities Director.
The resource center delivers four fresh meals, and one frozen meal to elderly residents during the week. Walser said the program provides two purposes, delivering nutritious meals and providing a wellness check to recipients.
The program is funded in part by the federal government, and Walser said, they rely on grant support.
"We support our community in a lot of ways, through community benefits. it's part of our non profit process," said Rodney Maples, a trustee for St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial Hospital.
